Our spacious backyard entertaining area at Southwest Harbor Hideaway offers a perfect wooded and colorful location for your special event.

Outdoor special events can accommodate up to 25 guests, including 13 overnight guests.
Amenities include:
A variety of seating options, a large outdoor dining table that seats 10 guests or can be used as a buffet, a large brand new gas grill with propane provided, full kitchen for cooking and preparation, a large firepit area with 10 Adirondack chairs and firewood provided, as well as cornhole and outdoor games.

Groups hosting a special event are asked to rent both Southwest Harbor Hideaway and Poet's Cabin (which are located next door to each other). Additional event fees apply and are based on each event.

"Wow, we could not ask for a better location, or better hosts for our small wedding! We had our ceremony in Acadia National Park and then came back to the rental for a reception. We had about 25 people, which was the perfect amount for the space. It felt intimate, but we were still able to dance the night away on the deck/dancefloor. Having both the big house and the cabin were perfect. The groom was able to get ready with the guys in the cabin while the bride took over the big house. While we took photos in the park after the ceremony our guests came back to the space to enjoy a bonfire. When we arrived at the rental our guests lined up in the space between the homes to celebrate us as a new married couple, it was magical. Carra and Sean really went above and beyond to make our day special. They provided tables and chairs. They even had lights strung up in the back of the house and between the two rentals. I really enjoyed being in Southwest harbor versus Bar Harbor. We were close enough to the park that people could explore but also far enough away that we had some privacy. I would 100% recommend these rentals for a wedding or small event.

"We stayed at this property when we were up for my daughter’s graduation from college in nearby Bar Harbor. Our party included my husband, along with my two daughters and their boyfriends. Also, for part of the time, three of my younger daughter’s high school friends (up to run a marathon that weekend) also stayed with us. Despite the number of bodies, we found that the space offered plenty of room for everyone — we were all quite comfortable in the common areas ... but there also was plenty of private space, including two rooms with en suite bathrooms. The backyard/outdoor space of the house is just amazing! We had a brunch party for about 20 people (graduates and their families) and there was just SO much space! We all played cornhole, sat around the fire pit, grilled sausage links and enjoyed the fresh air, trees and blue skies ... It was just glorious! And the wonderfully long table was perfect as a buffet for the food and drinks and provided ample space for guests to eat and hang out. I decided to make all of the food, which I knew was a tall order, especially in an unfamiliar kitchen. However, the place was so well-stocked with pans, baking sheets, sharp knives (a rarity in a rental house), cutting boards and kitchen tools that it was actually a pleasure to work there! Finally, the location is great and we wished we had stayed in Southwest Harbor on our previous trips. Perfect trip — we already are planning to return in the Fall with two other couples."
